Glen GoodKnight, Society Founder, Passes Away
Posted on November 10, 2010

Glen GoodKnight, visionary and founder of the Mythopoeic Society, 1941-2010 - Farther up and further in!

We received this announcement from Bonnie GoodKnight Callahan on Friday night:
"I regret to inform the Mythopoeic Society that Glen GoodKnight passed away last Wednesday night. He had been in poor health for a number of years, but was actively participating in many online activities, cataloging his collection for eventual sale/donation, and appeared to be in stable condition. This has come as a complete shock to his entire family."
The Funeral services will be open to all; and all Mythsoc members, friends of Tolkien and of CS Lewis are invited to attend.

Time: Saturday, Nov 13, 11:00 AM (Please allow plenty of time for parking as we've been told the service will start promptly at 11:00 AM.)

Location: Rosehills Cemetary
3888 Workman Mill Rd.
Whittier, CA 90501

Glen's family has suggested that donations be made to the Mythopoeic Society in lieu of flowers. The Council of Stewards, on which Glen served for many decades, has renamed the Starving Scholars Fund in Glen's memory. We believe that Glen, who valued and encouraged Inklings scholarship before the field of Inklings studies existed, would be pleased to be remembered this way.

The November 2010 issue of Mythprint will contain remembrances; we invite you to send memories to mythprint@mythsoc.org. We won't be able to include all of them in Mythprint, but we will post a Glen GoodKnight Memorial page after that issue is complete.
