The Mythopoeic Society’s annual conference is usually held at a college or university campus setting in late July or early August. Each conference is constructed around a theme related to Inklings studies and/or fantastic and mythic literature. Each conference also features an author and a scholar guest of honor. Papers, panel discussions, readings, entertainment, an art show, a dealers’ room, and other activities fill the four-day event. Another Mythcon highlight is our annual banquet, after which the Mythopoeic Awards are presented. A small (usually 100-300 people) attendance and intimate setting makes Mythcon an excellent venue for meeting people with common interests.
If you (or your group) are interested in putting on a Mythcon in your area, please contact the Secretary for Mythopoeic Conferences, Lynn Maudlin, at mythcon@mythsoc.org for information and help.
The annual conference of the Mythopoeic Society is referred to as “Mythcon” — it’s a lot of fun. It’s something like a cross between a literary conference and a science fiction convention and a joyful family reunion. What is Mythcon? »
For forty years, Mythcon has taken place on campuses across the country, from California to Connecticut. (A few times, we have even ventured across the ocean to Hawai’i or England.) Find out all the past locations, themes, and guests of honor. History »
